Sunday 5th July 2009 - Luc gets to grip with the swiss delicacy of snail dipped in beer as Cai looks on in the background.
Its of course a joke, we would never give Luc a whole snail so young. Cai came home mid week and we have been adjusting to it ever since, we still have spitex nurses caring for him but the hours will be reduced after this month. Cai seems to be coping well without cannula altough a couple of times today he seemed to struggle with coughing and breathing, holding the stoma closed helps but it is still obvious that he cannot be left alone in the same way that LUC can be left in the play pen and you can just check every now and then. It has also meant a big change for kerstin and myself - we still instinctively react when he coughs or is too quiet for long.
We must not forget that although his Cannula (yes finally I started spelling it properly) is out he still faces huge problems in day to day living because he lacks senses that we take for granted, he still can't smell and hear well, he still has balance problems and he is still delayed in development de to these problems but it is amazing how well he copes with all this and continues to move forward. yesterday we caught him pointing to the animals in the book and signing what they were to Luc, during a brief moment when he wasn't pushing him over or pulling his hair.
